We all know that to get things done, well, we need to get them done.
There are short cuts, no delegations, no cheats or avoidances.
And as demotivating that may seem, especially if you are doing something for yourself, we have to practice giving our tasks just as much importance compared to doing tasks for others.
If someone had given you a deadline will you be able to meet it?

The answer to that is more likely to be yes than no, mainly because we had taken up the task knowing we can do it, and secondly having a set deadline adds pressure to get it done.
So why can’t we prioritise our tasks in the same manner?
Well…we can just like deadlines given to us, we can set self-imposed deadlines for ourselves, keeping our eyes on the time and make sure we stick to it.
This sort of pressure can have a positive impact on the amount of work we can actually get done.
If the task is open-ended or extremely big, break it down to set more realistic deadlines, and again, stick to them!

You’ll be surprised at how much you can get done, and how quickly you can complete it.
You need to give precedence to your work.
Tasks that we have set up for ourselves are just as important (and in some cases maybe more) as work others have set for us.
So when you give your utmost attention on completed work for others ensure the same is applied to the tasks you have set out for yourself.
Make sure when doing your work all notifications are switched off, no phone calls are taken and all your focus is given to the task ahead.

Instead, set aside time for checking up and keeping track of the notifications, this could be a five minute window after completing a task and before taking a break, so that if there is an urgent matter that requires your attention you can attend to it without leaving the task you needed to do.
Remember the work you deem important will only be given priority by you, and completing it will only bring you closer to the achievements you have set out for yourself.
So what are you waiting for? I say go for it, for great things await you when you set out to achieve them!
Reflect. Love. Heal.
