Stepping into a spa we automatically begin to feel the experience as soon as we enter the building, likewise entering an airport will automatically feels like the holiday we have booked has already begun.
Our environment has a large impact on how we feel, and in order to be able to do our best we need to feel our best.
Many of us have shifted from commuting to our office/work space to working from home, and some of us are now beginning to go back to the office.
While the changes themselves have had a big influence on how we feel when the day has begun, our surroundings also have an affect on us.
When you start your day take a minute to look around you.
Really take in the environment you are surrounded by, how does your space make you feel?
The size of the space and the view it comes with are something most of cannot choose or have an influence over. We have to work with what we have, but other than that, there is a lot we can do.
We may not be able to make a big changes but even little adjustments can make a huge impression.
Having sounds which you find soothing, plants/flowers which release pleasant aromas and make you feel at ease when you look at them and colours that are calming and provide a light and happy environment all play a part to how we feel and that in turn can impact how productive we can be.
You surroundings should reflect who you are and what you like, things that are your personal preferences, but after the minor adjustments again look at your space a whole.
If your space is small and you have too many things you would like to add, instead of having a calming affect your space can look cramped and make you feel claustrophobic.
So experiment, after a few changes take a step back, look and re-evaluate. Move things around, create a mood board and even have large cards of colours before painting walls to really feel the change before making the effort.
It might seem like it is time consuming and a lot of effort but in the long run, working in a space that makes you feel happy, motivated to do more and having a positive impact on your productivity will make it all worthwhile.
Sometimes its not the career we are in that makes us feel demotivated but the environment we are surrounded by that’s having a negative influence on us.
So make the change you need, to get the results you want.
Reflect. Love. Heal.
